A native of Washington State, Pamela Searcy grew up in Eastern Washington where her family owned orchards on the Yakima Indian Reservation.  Drawing and painting were her favorite adventures as a child and she continued her interest in art studying Design, Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Art History at Seattle University and the University of Washington.

After completing under graduate and graduate degrees from Seattle University, Pamela taught elementary school and then art at Inglemoor High School. With the demands of three small children the Artist was busy at home for several years, keeping up with her artistic interests as time allowed.   Now that the children have completed their university degrees, the Artist is enjoying a new freedom to arrange her interests around a life long love of artistic expression. 

 

Pamela Searcy paints in the Impressionistic Style working from her personal photographs and drawings, adding a new perspective to the scenes that we pass by every day. Utilizing a dramatic range of vibrant natural and blended colors the artist’s composition and design demonstrate a unique and specific fascination with the visual interaction and tension between positive and negative space.   

Artist's Philosophy

 

 

The Artist's adventure with color explores vibrant neutrals and the unconventional use of grayed tones; nothing remains as it is directly from the tube, shades and tones of color trail across the canvas to discover new impressions of light and shadow.

 

The energetic and exaggerated brush strokes leave for the viewer something of the exuberant energy and spirit of the Artist.  No attempt at realism is made by the Artist and viewers are not left to question art competing with reality; painting or photograph.

 

Pamela Searcy shares with the viewers of her art, a special appreciation of the unique and sometimes obscure beauty in the world. No attempt is made by the Artist to manipulate the viewer, to promote a personal or individual comment on any topic or to forward any agenda, the work is a straight forward and unpretentious representation of what the Artist finds beautiful and interesting in the world. 

 

All artwork is painted from the Artist's original drawings and photographs, the work has not been computer enhanced and the Artist's photographs were not printed directly on the canvas.
